The Pakistan government has announced a sharp cut in the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD), reducing the rate by Rs. 32.63 per litre after discussions with domestic oil refineries. The decision followed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s instructions to Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to negotiate with local refiners and find ways to provide relief to consumers. Following the talks, domestic refineries agreed to reduce the price of locally produced diesel. As a result, the retail price of HSD has fallen from around Rs. 396 per litre to Rs. 363.06 per litre, offering motorists and businesses some relief amid elevated fuel costs.
