India Approves Rs 1.1 Lakh Crore in Defence Deals, 98 percent Sourced From Domestic Industry

India has given the preliminary approval for defence procurement proposals valued at around ₹1.1 lakh crore. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has cleared the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for a range of major military acquisition plans covering the Army, Navy and Indian Air Force. In a significant step towards the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, around 98% of the total procurement value is expected to be sourced from Indian domestic manufacturers under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category. The decision further underlines New Delhi’s efforts to expand indigenous defence production and build a stronger, more self-reliant military-industrial base.
