Four Senior Taliban Figures Face ICC Allegations of Gender-Based Persecution

The International Criminal Court has made public arrest warrants issued against four senior Taliban leaders over alleged crimes against humanity involving gender-based persecution in Afghanistan. According to the ICC, there are reasonable grounds to believe the alleged campaign targeted women and girls, individuals considered to have violated the Taliban’s gender rules, as well as people seen as supporting or associating with women and girls.
