DUBAI — Saudi Arabia's King Salman has successfully recovered after undergoing medical tests for lung inflammation on Wednesday (Oct 9), as reported by the state news agency (SPA) citing the royal court.
The royal court announced on Sunday that the 88-year-old monarch would be undergoing these tests due to lung inflammation concerns. This follows a previous episode in May, during which the king also received medical care for the same condition.
As the head of the world’s largest oil exporter and a key ally of the United States in the Middle East, King Salman's health is closely monitored. His recent medical assessments highlight the ongoing concerns about his well-being.
The king last presided over a cabinet meeting on September 24, according to SPA reports. In August, he issued a royal decree that enables the cabinet to convene even in the absence of both himself and the prime minister, his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This measure reflects the governance structure in place to ensure continuity in leadership and decision-making within the kingdom.
