Mazda showcased its latest model, the CX-80, during a special preview event held at Mandala Club on December 6. This marks the debut of Mazda's first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in Singapore, with the official launch scheduled for the 2025 Singapore Motorshow in January.
The CX-80, positioned as Mazda's flagship SUV, boasts impressive dimensions with a length of 4,995mm and a width of 3,120mm. Its extended wheelbase of 3,120mm accommodates a third row of seats, making it a spacious seven-seater SUV.
Under the hood, the CX-80 combines a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine delivering 189hp and 261Nm of torque with an electric motor generating 173hp and 270Nm of torque. Together, the system produces a combined output of 323hp and 500Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 6.8 seconds.
The vehicle is equipped with a 17.8kWh battery that can be fully charged in approximately two hours using a 7.2kW AC charger. On electric mode alone, the CX-80 offers a range of up to 60km. Mazda reports a combined fuel consumption of just 1.6 litres per 100km.
As a flagship model, the CX-80 features a luxurious interior with advanced technology. A standout feature is the Driver Personalisation System, which employs facial recognition to identify the driver and automatically adjusts the seating position and other preset preferences. It can store up to six driver profiles and even adjusts the seat based on the driver's height and eye position.
Additional features include a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and a wireless charging pad for smartphones. Although the CX-80 will officially launch at the Singapore Motorshow, Mazda’s local distributor, Trans Eurokars, has begun accepting orders. The indicative retail price is $376,888 (inclusive of COE), with a special pre-launch offer of $328,888 (inclusive of COE).
