Security forces uncovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a joint operation in the Lapri area of Mahore, Reasi district, according to police on Wednesday.
Acting on reliable intelligence, a search operation led to the discovery of a hidden stockpile containing one AK-47 rifle, three AK-47 magazines, two pistols with magazines, 511 AK-47 rounds, 14 pistol rounds, four hand grenades, and a backpack, the police stated.
The recovered items have been secured, and investigations are ongoing to trace their origins and uncover any connections to terrorist activities. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
In a separate operation, security forces discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Baramulla-Handwara road in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday. The IED was safely destroyed, officials reported.
The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps posted on X, "IED recovered at Langate, Kupwara, on the Baramulla-Handwara road. Chinar Warriors and @JmuKmrPolice averted a major terror incident today by recovering and destroying an IED at Langate, Kupwara." The statement emphasized the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to maintaining a terror-free Kashmir.
