LOS ANGELES — On October 9, numerous country music stars participated in a high-profile benefit concert, while Taylor Swift contributed to hunger relief efforts, as celebrities rallied to support those affected by Hurricane Helene and the approaching Hurricane Milton.
Pop icon Swift donated $5 million to Feeding America to aid in the recovery from the storms, as announced in a social media post by the organization.
"Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and helping communities in need," stated Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America.
The southern United States was recently struck by the devastating Hurricane Helene, while Milton began impacting Florida on Wednesday. Both storms are projected to result in billions of dollars in damages.
Keith Urban, Luke Combs, Eric Church, and other country artists are organizing a benefit concert titled "Concert for Carolina" on October 26 to support regions heavily affected by Helene. The concert will be held at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In addition, country singer Morgan Wallen assisted with a supply drive and took photos with fans at a food drive in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Wednesday. He previously donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief.
Country legend Dolly Parton contributed $1 million from her personal funds to a Tennessee nonprofit organization, while her businesses, including the Dollywood theme park, provided an additional $1 million.
"These are my people and this is my home," Parton expressed to a crowd in Newport, Tennessee. "I am with you because I am part of you."
