Defying state government directives, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha laid the foundation stone on Sunday for installing the Telangana Talli statue.
During the event, Kavitha declared that despite the Telangana government's orders and gazettes, the BRS would ensure the installation of the original Telangana Talli statue. According to a statement from her PRO, she highlighted the statue's symbolic role in inspiring and empowering the people during the Telangana movement.
Kavitha reaffirmed her commitment to preserving Bathukamma as an integral part of Telangana Talli's legacy and spreading its significance globally. She accused the Congress-led state government of undermining the state's cultural identity and traditions. Vowing to counter such efforts at the grassroots level, Kavitha announced plans to install Telangana Talli statues in every village.
Earlier in the day, Kavitha visited Kasturba Girls Residential School in Sarangapur, where she interacted with students and teachers, addressing their concerns. She urged the government to extend enhanced diet charges to Kasturba schools and ensure nutritious meals for students in residential schools.
Kavitha also demanded the regularization of contract teachers, criticizing the Congress government for failing to deliver on its election promise to regularize teaching staff. She reaffirmed her dedication to safeguarding the rights, identity, and cultural pride of Telangana.
A statement from her PRO mentioned that thousands of supporters welcomed Kavitha, as she protested the exclusion of Bathukamma from the Congress’s "Matha" version of the Telangana Talli statue. Kavitha, joined by thousands of women, celebrated Bathukamma in Jagital as part of her demonstration.
