Silo Renewed for Two Additional Seasons, Season Three Already Filming in the UK: The critically acclaimed sci-fi series Silo has been renewed for two more seasons, with production on the third installment already underway in the UK. The announcement was made by Apple CEO Tim Cook, alongside the show’s star and executive producer Rebecca Ferguson, during a visit to the set at Hoddesdon Studios, located just outside London. We couldn’t be more pleased with the response to Silo, Cook said in an interview conducted from the Silo 18 cafeteria, one of the show’s key settings. We’re already deep into filming season three, and it’s exciting to see the story continue to evolve.
Rebecca Ferguson, who plays Juliette, the show’s central character, expressed her enthusiasm for returning to the tense, mysterious world of Silo. It’s incredible to walk through these environments again, experiencing new circumstances and threats. The tension is palpable, and the mystery keeps us all hooked, she shared. Based on Hugh Howey’s popular Silo book trilogy, the dystopian series is set in a massive underground silo where humanity’s last survivors believe the Earth’s surface is uninhabitable due to a toxic environment. Ferguson’s character, Juliette, is an engineer whose quest for answers surrounding a loved one’s death leads her to uncover the silo’s deeply buried secrets. The first season ended dramatically with Juliette stepping outside the silo for the first time. The second season, currently streaming on Apple TV+, follows the aftermath of her groundbreaking discovery, further unraveling the mysteries of the silo.
According to the show’s creators, the fourth season will serve as the series finale, wrapping up the intricate storyline that has captivated audiences worldwide. As Silo continues to draw praise, Tim Cook reflected on the success of Apple TV+, which launched five years ago in November 2019. By any measure, Apple TV+ has been a success, he said. Our focus has always been on quality over quantity, and Silo is a perfect example of that commitment. We partner with the best storytellers and prioritize original content that resonates globally. The UK, in particular, has been a fantastic base for fostering creativity and producing stories that audiences love.
The show’s second season comprises 10 episodes, with new episodes released weekly on Apple TV+. The season finale is set to premiere on January 17, 2024. As anticipation builds for the subsequent seasons, Silo remains a testament to Apple TV+’s dedication to delivering high-quality, compelling entertainment.
