Samsung Electronics has made several changes to its management, including the appointment of a new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for its foundry operations. On November 27, the company revealed its annual executive reshuffle for 2025, which involves nine senior executives, including two promotions to president and seven role changes. Additional restructuring and changes for vice presidents and below will be announced soon.
The new appointments focus on leveraging the global leadership and management expertise of seasoned executives at Samsung. These executives have been assigned tasks aimed at enhancing the brand and consumer experience to drive the company's mid-to-long-term growth.
Samsung stated that these changes are designed to address the unpredictable business environment, setting the stage for the company's next phase of development.
Key features of the reshuffle include: First, the memory business unit will now report directly to the representative directors. Second, there has been a leadership change in the foundry division. Third, senior executives with significant experience have been tasked with exploring new business opportunities.
To boost the competitiveness of its semiconductor technology and improve organizational culture, two new roles have been created: the CTO for the foundry business and a strategic operations leader who will report directly to the president of the Device Solutions (DS) division. Samsung also announced that Young-Hyun Jun, Vice Chairman and head of the DS Division, will take on the role of CEO while continuing to lead the Memory.
Business and Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. Jin-Man Han, previously EVP and president of Device Solutions America, has been promoted to president and will now lead the foundry business. Seok-Woo Nam has been appointed as the new CTO for the foundry business.
Han, with his background in leading Samsung's semiconductor business in the US, has extensive experience in DRAM and flash memory design, as well as SSD development and strategic marketing. Nam, who was previously president and head of FAB engineering & operations, has deep expertise in semiconductor process development and memory and foundry manufacturing technologies.
Jong-Hee Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and head of the Device eXperience (DX) division, will lead a newly formed committee focused on improving product quality across the company.
Additionally, Samsung has reintroduced a dual representative director system to strengthen its core business and support sustainable growth. Han-Sung Ko, CEO of Samsung Bioepis, will lead efforts to explore new growth opportunities, particularly in biotechnology.
Other executive changes include Yong-Kwan Kim, promoted to president of management strategy at the DS division, Won-Jin Lee, named president and head of the global marketing office, and Hark-Kyu Park, formerly CFO, who will move to the business support team.
