Singapore:- A 56-year-old man was arrested and hospitalized on Tuesday (Oct 8) after brandishing a knife at the Textile Centre on Jalan Sultan.
Responding to AHN's inquiries, police confirmed they received a call for help around 3:50 p.m.
A one-minute video of the incident circulating online shows the man, dressed only in underwear, waving a knife in the air.
An eyewitness mentioned that the man is "always" ,seen at the centre and sometimes talks to himself.
As a police officer approaches, the man extends one arm and raises the knife. Another officer then draws a gun, instructing the man to drop the knife and sit down.
The man complies, placing the knife on a nearby counter and kneeling. Four officers then surround and restrain him after he refuses to lie down.
Police informed AHN that the man was arrested for possessing an offensive weapon and was taken to the hospital with a suspected self-inflicted injury.
Investigations by the police are ongoing.
