The Indian Army, in collaboration with Manipur Police and other security agencies, conducted successful joint operations across multiple districts in Manipur, including Imphal East, Tengnoupal, Yangiangpokpi, and Churachandpur, recovering nine weapons, ammunition, and other warlike materials, as stated in a press release on Monday.
On December 23, 2024, acting on specific intelligence about the presence of arms in the Ngariyan Hill area of Imphal East district, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Manipur Police. The search led to the recovery of one Light Machine Gun, a 12 Bore Single Barrel Gun, a 9mm Pistol, two tube launchers, explosives, ammunition, and other warlike materials.
In Tengnoupal district, another joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police on December 27, 2024, uncovered a factory-made .303 Rifle, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and grenades. The operation also dismantled three hideouts located on elevated terrain overlooking NH 102.
On December 27-28, 2024, based on intelligence about arms movement along the road to Yangiangpokpi, Indian Army personnel set up a mobile checkpoint on the Lamlong-Yangiangpokpi road. During vehicle inspections, troops recovered two double-barrel rifles and a single-bore rifle from two vehicles. The recovered items were handed over to Manipur Police.
In Churachandpur district, a joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police on December 27, 2024, targeted an under-construction structure near K Lhanghnom Vangkho village along NH 2, suspected to be used by miscreants. The structure was dismantled, and extensive patrolling followed to secure the area and prevent further unlawful activities.
