New Delhi: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a call to the public to take part in the auction of various mementoes he has collected over the years. The proceeds from this auction are earmarked to support the 'Namami Gange' project, an important government initiative dedicated to the conservation and rejuvenation of the Ganga river.
In his announcement on X, Modi stated, “Each year, I auction off the various gifts and mementoes I receive during public engagements. The funds raised from these auctions are dedicated to the Namami Gange initiative, which is crucial for the river’s conservation. I am delighted to share that this year's auction is now underway. I encourage everyone to bid on the mementoes that appeal to you!”
The Namami Gange program is a significant governmental effort aimed at restoring the Ganga river to its former glory. The initiative seeks to address the issues of pollution and environmental degradation affecting one of India’s most sacred and vital water bodies. Through projects funded by the auction proceeds, the program focuses on cleaning the river, enhancing its water quality, and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
