BMW has introduced the second-generation 2 Series Gran Coupe, featuring a fresh design, upgraded suspension technology, and an enhanced range of driving options.
At launch, customers can choose between two variants: the BMW 220 M Sport Gran Coupe and the BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupe. Both models come equipped with the latest petrol engines, with the 220 M Sport also incorporating 48-volt mild hybrid technology.
Standard features include 17-inch light alloy wheels, with optional 18- and 19-inch wheels available. The 220 M Sport delivers 168bhp and 280Nm of torque, achieving 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 230km/h. Meanwhile, the M235 xDrive produces 296bhp and 400Nm of torque, sprinting from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of 249km/h.
BMW has improved the body structure's rigidity in this new model, enhancing agility, steering precision, and cornering performance. The chassis refinements include updated kinematics and shock absorber technology, with additional adjustments to the front wheels for improved steering feedback and stability at higher speeds.
The M235 xDrive comes standard with Adaptive M suspension, featuring variable shock absorbers for a balance of agility and long-distance comfort. The car is also lowered by 8mm and includes sports steering.
Both models are equipped with a 7-speed double-clutch Steptronic transmission, providing quick gear changes and smooth shifting.
In terms of size, the new 2 Series Gran Coupe has an expressive front end and a sleek silhouette, now 20mm longer at 4,546mm, with a wheelbase of 2,670mm, a width of 1,800mm, and a height increase of 25mm to 1,445mm. The boot offers 430 litres of space, with a 40:20:40 split for the rear seats as standard.
The car's sporty appearance is accentuated by the radiator grille, a large black lower air inlet, vertical side openings, and bold headlights. The number '2' is embossed into the Hofmeister kink on the rear doors. The rear lights feature a distinct contour with vertically aligned LED elements, while the tailpipes on the 220 M Sport are concealed.
Inside, the 2 Series Gran Coupe benefits from the latest BMW iDrive system with QuickSelect and an array of digital services powered by BMW Operating System 9, along with advanced driving assistance and parking systems. Ambient lighting similar to the 1 Series adds a premium touch to the cabin.
