In the latest incident, critics of Mr. Biden alleged that he had a moment of confusion necessitating assistance from Barack Obama to leave the stage during a weekend fundraiser.

In response, the White House presented additional footage which they asserted showed that Mr. Biden was merely pausing to acknowledge applause.
