Hamas has announced that its leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed while in Tehran, Iran. Reports indicate that he died in an airstrike around 2:00 AM local time. Hamas has accused Israel of carrying out the attack. Israel has not yet responded, but it has previously pledged to target Hamas leaders. Haniyeh's death occurred just hours after Israel claimed responsibility for killing a senior Hezbollah commander in a strike on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
